[s-cars] loss of boost?

Gentlemen,

It feels like my boost is coming on later than it should and not as
powerful as it should.

When should the boost come on? My car has the RS2 EM, RS2 FI, RS2 maf,
new F5DPOR Spark Plugs, new spark plug connectors, innovative turbo's
custom "RS2 turbo", Pastore's RS2 mix with the Vmap, and Silicone boost
hoses from the GP.

Feels like it boost is coming on close to 4k rpm. In addition I swear I
can hear something "spinning down" after I lift my foot off the gas.
Unfortunately the wife couldn't hear it, hoping it's just the sign of a
boost leak.

tomorrow I plan on digging into it starting by checking for boost
leaks, connections for the boost line to the ecu, anything else I
should check?

If a turbo was failing what sign would it give? Just hoping it isn't
the turbo....please reassure me it isn't! :-)
