Thanks Fred. On closer inspection i note that the mouldings on my driver
sides are "falling apart". The metal strip buried in the rubber is now
exposed and as I hadn't peeled the strip all the way back was thinking that
the rubber and metal strip were two individual components.

Tony;
If you are talking about the exterior rubber flap that seals the bottom of
the door, a metal strip is moulded into the rubber. The entire piece slides
into the clips - at least that is the way it works on my S4. These mouldings
fail when the metal strip rusts inside the rubber. To extend their life,
seal the end insert with a polyurethane sealer or similar product.

Guys,
I've just purchased driver side lower door mouldings from ECS but all I
received was the rubber part. So I check on ETKA and there is also some
clips but when I look at the car, there is a metal strip that is between the
moulding and the clip.
Does anyone know the part number for this metal strip? Dealer was less than
helpful.
Thanks,
Tony
