[s-cars] anyone running 18x8.5" wheels?

I run 18x8.5 I believe 32mm offset BBS RC's and honestly there is loads
of room in the rear with 255 35's, in fact I have a friend who fit up
9.5 in rims in the rear with 275's that were very close, it is
deceiving, but the camber gain in the rear is so severe that the tire
just tucks itself under. The front I had to roll the lips. After I did
that I was actually able to run a 10mm spacers in the front to try and
get a wider front track. Next stop 275's or 285 30's.

maybe it goes without saying, but the key here will be the offset.
with an 8.5" rim (and wider tire), you're cutting down on the
allowable tolerance for a rim/tire combo to fit. i'm running 18x8.5s,
but the offset is 32mm and that would have to be considered the limit
for an 8.5" rim in the rear (fronts fit fine). i run a smaller tire
to help with rear fitment. i'd say 35mm, or even 37mm, offset would
be the best fit. hth.
