Alex and s-heads
I thought I would reply to Alex and the list about his suspension questions.
Alex is curious about what would make an ultimate street suspension. Here's
what I have done. I have Bilstein Sports revalved +10% in Compression and +30%
rebound with a minor adjustment based on corner weighting. I also have Eibach
Prokits in the front and had them in the rear. I wanted something a little more
aggressive for the rear so I pulled the Prokits when I did the revalve and
installed a set of Ground Control coilovers. These are a standard set of Ground
Control coilovers using 8" linear Eibach 400lb springs. I also have my HRSB
set at full hard. The rear Prokits were rated at something like 280 lbs. The
last piece is a set of 2Bennett 2 Gen camber/caster plates with solid spherical
bearings. These are vastly superior to the 1 Gen plates and make no embarassing
noises.
This system as a whole provides for a wonderfully neutral s-car. With the
power I have on tap its fairly easy to get the car to mildly oversteer. The rear
coilovers do allow some corner weighting capability. I think I'm just about
finished with the suspension but there is always the front sway bar to swap out
for the 28mm variety. I could also go with a front coilover but I like my rear
to front spring balance or unbalance as the case may be. Here's a picture of
my rear suspension:
