[s-cars] RE: 255 wide tire fitment question - rubbing survey

Not an S-car, but just FYI:

My old '91 200q had 255/40R17 Sumitomo HTR-ZII tires on 17x8 ET35
Oettinger wheels, with H&R 29800 springs and Bilstein shocks. The only
rubbing that occurred was with a heavy load and a road that had large
dips taken at speed.

I've seen multiple S-cars running 255s on the same offset wheels and
never thought it looked odd, didn't stick out and no one seemed to
complain about rubbing.

There may be some issues with some cars- a friend of mine has an S6
that seems to put the wheels much further out than any other S-car
I've seen and even the stock Avus with 205/55R16 look kind of weird on
the car.
