[s-cars] Coil Replacement Options?

I don't know the answer re the 1.8 /or 2.7 tt Audi coils, but I'm told FWIW
that some, at least one or more persons have been looking at a GM product
(the Corvette) coils as possible replacements.  This would entail
substituting spark plug wires for the plug boots, and remotely locating the
replacement coils else wheres in the engine compartment, as opposed to in
the head where they tend to get, and stay pretty hot.

No word on when, if ever this proposed solution may actually be implemented.
But I am, as we speak, sitting with one car without a good set of coils
waiting for an answer.
