Bill attempted not to squeal:

Seem to receive a number of driving event invites from various
manufacturers throughout the year and take advantage, whenever I can.
Latest was from that All-American institution, General Motors. Wife and
I took part for a chance to flog a C6 'Vette around an autocross course.
Getting to the Audi content -- the "luxury" car drive included various
Cadillacs and Saabs, alog with the Competition. Competition included
BMW, Mercedes, Acura, whatever and an Audi A4 3.2l.

General instructions were to drive the course, take it easy and no tire
squealing -- yeah, right. Funny thing was, the one car that seemed to
get the most tire squealing going on, drew the most attention from the
staff (pulling drivers over and telling them to "SLOW DOWN") and seemed
to have the longest wait time to drive was the A4.

Not sure why this was, but did note that the A4 SOUNDED better than
anything out there. Maybe that was enough to get the large assortment of
drivers to push it that much harder. The wife and I waited for quite a
while for a chance to drive the A4, but finally got tired of waiting in
line and not flogging cars around the cones (with a minimum of tire
squeal, of course). Makes you wonder, if the A4 might mysteriously
disappear from the competition lineup in the next city on the tour.

We now return to normal S-Car programming.

Heh heh heh, I hear you Bill.

I always aim to position myself into going to as many of those events as
they're stupid enough to keep inviting me to. Tho, I have to bag the
Mazda zoom one next week as it's my son's bday. Hard to top the Maybach
adventure, that one was legendary 8-). Maybe a Veyron outing of some
sort heh heh? Some are certainly better than others, the MB C-Spot
event blew hog, with exception of the pro-driver taking us for hot laps
in the C32, sideways, repeatedly.

Greatgreat opportunity to hone left foot braking skills, and how drive
smooth... as, well... the smoother you drive the less tire squeal you
make the faster you can go without being flagged. Or something,
allegedly. Get in, turn off ESP, A/C, radio, slap her in 1st. Man did
we wallop a bunch of MB's this summer at another event they had, that
little C320 sport was sure fun, more fun than the E500 on that tight
course. Key is to arrive 1st thing and beat the crowds, we hopped from
car to car to car to car as no one was there. Oooops.
