[s-cars] Alternator overcharging?

i didn't even do that. i replaced the voltage regulator with the
alternator in place. i only remember disconnecting some wires and
then removing the screws that held the voltage regulator in place.
i do remember that one of the screws was hard to turn and leverage
was poor, so i used vise-grips on the screwdriver to help break the
screw loose.
it didn't take more than a few minutes to replace the voltage regulator.
i got my replacement from NAPA auto parts, and while it didn't look
the same as the original, all the critical dimensions were the same
and it's been working fine since i installed it.
