[s-cars] Strange CD Player Behavior

There is some sort of sneak circuit that is giving me minor grief.  
Patient is a 93S4 with CD player. When the headlights are off, the  
radio and CD player work fine. if, however, I turn on the headlights  
while the radio is off, I immediately get a noise out of the radio  
speakers that sounds like alternator whine. If I then turn on the  
radio, the whine goes away, and the radio works fine, but the CD  
changer won't work. If I turn on the radio first, and then the  
lights, the radio and the CD work fine. Is there such a thing as  
German Voodoo?
