WhooHoo!! The all-seeing, all-knowing, all-dancing (well, okay, not
dancing, but at least toe-tapping) List is back. Just in time for a
question that I have:
Background: Thanks to Gabriel Caldwell and his efforts in recycling dead
S-cars via parts transplants into deserving recipients (for a price), I
am now the owner of a 92 C4 S-car rear crossmember and sway bar for my
93 Carbon Fibre S4. Since I have a V8 torsen in the garage waiting to
be installed, swapping the crossmember and adding the sway bar won't be
too much extra work.
Question: What's the deal with the OE sway bar-to-lower control arm
links? I expected something like a threaded rod with Heim-joints but
the OE links are actually a fixed rod with a ball joint at either end.
They probably function just fine but they look strange. Do they go bad?
Should I be thinking of replacing them ($50 CDN per side)?
I will be replacing the rubber bushings where the bar mounts to the 92
only rear cross member. (The car is Eibach/Biltstein equipped)
Thank in advance.
Dave F.
