[s-cars] seat heater bulb replacement problem

i've been attempting to follow the instructions at this link:
http://www.elektro.com/~audi/seatheater/fred/

but i can't get the switch panel out. i removed the two narrow
blanks at the ends and removed the upper screws. i can pull
the panel out slightly on the left-hand side but very little
on the right-hand side. i think the problem is the ABS switch
wiring.

my car is a '92 and the switch layout is a bit different from
the one pictured at fred's page. after the hazard switch,
there are two blanks, then the ABS switch, then the passenger
side seat heater switch. i removed the two blanks and i can
see that the wiring going to the ABS switch is stretched
nearly taut. it looks like i need to release the connector
for this ABS switch, but i can't figure out how to do it.
i removed the radio, but there's a metal plate right above
the radio that that prevents me from reaching the back of
the switch panel.

has anybody dealt with this problem before? this is a '92
with the ABS switch from the factory, installed just inboard
of the passenger side seat heater switch.
