[s-cars] seat heater bulb replacement problem

Hi Teddy;

The switches pop into the connectors. If you look at the seat heater switch
in Photo A in the write-up, you can see 2 arrowhead-shaped plastic pins
sticking out the back. These slide into slots in the connector block and
lock the connector to the switch. You just pull back on the connector (or
pull the switch out of the panel) and the connector pops off. Getting them
out isn't the problem; since the connector block is not secured to the
panel, getting them back together is the trick. You need to be able to hold
the connector in place while you push the switch into the panel.

Subject: [s-cars] seat heater bulb replacement problem

i've been attempting to follow the instructions at this link:
http://www.elektro.com/~audi/seatheater/fred/

but i can't get the switch panel out. i removed the two narrow
blanks at the ends and removed the upper screws. i can pull
the panel out slightly on the left-hand side but very little
on the right-hand side. i think the problem is the ABS switch
wiring.

my car is a '92 and the switch layout is a bit different from
the one pictured at fred's page. after the hazard switch,
there are two blanks, then the ABS switch, then the passenger
side seat heater switch. i removed the two blanks and i can
see that the wiring going to the ABS switch is stretched
nearly taut. it looks like i need to release the connector
for this ABS switch, but i can't figure out how to do it.
i removed the radio, but there's a metal plate right above
the radio that that prevents me from reaching the back of
the switch panel.

has anybody dealt with this problem before? this is a '92
with the ABS switch from the factory, installed just inboard
of the passenger side seat heater switch.
