[s-cars] Dumb air cleaner question - no UrS content...

Changing the air filter on the UrS6 is easy, Eric. Changing the air filter
on the 80q is , well, not easy.... as you've noticed.

And yes, the Bentley leaves the procedure up to your imagination.

On my 5ktq and 200q I used to fold the filters in half to get them into and
out of the air box. Once you got the clips undone, the box could be
separated enough to squeeze the filters in and out. Then you have the fun of
re-fastening the clips....

Consider this an opportunity to use your creative mechanical instincts. Good
luck!

One way to bleed down the fuel pressure is to pull the fuse for the fuel
pump and try to start the car. The fuel pressure will bleed off through the
injectors. Then there's the old "crack the line and spray" method - not
recommended!

I have a 1990 Audi 80q winter beater. 200k+ miles, and still drives in snow
like a champ. It's no UrS6, but what is, really? :)

OK, so, I get under the hood, new air filter element in hand, and try to get
the air box open. Wow. Did they build the car around the airbox, or what?
Holy crap. I can't even get to one of the clamps.

So, go into the house, and get out Bentley, and look to see what wisdom is
there.

Anyone wanna guess what wisdom could be found there? :/

Since I'm sure I'll be doing this to my S6 soon enough, I figured I'd do an
easy job on a car that's not as critical about its air supply. Easy, my
Aunt Fanny. How in the heck is this accomplished???

OK, on a related note, I have a new fuel filter that was supposed to go in
during the FP install, but didn't make it. Is there any way to bleed the
fuel pressure off before I open the lines to get this thing in? BTW, this
is also on the 80q.

Thanks, and thanks for tolerating non-S, but still Audi-family content,

Eric

UrS6, 1994 100S Avant, 80q - 400k miles of Audi goodness.
