Taka:

He is only now shading away from the '83 urq in the garage. He has been telling his friends for years that I was keeping it for him. His mom has him worried about the lack of ABS and airbags while he's an inexperienced driver, so it sort of gets a reprieve. I keep thinking I should hold onto the stock engine/modded suspension S6 sedan for a couple more years for him, but I'm looking at the A4 2.0T as a more economical commute for me.

We shall see. But doesn't the Audi Tip just leave you flat? I was really hoping for more improvement.

I have yet to have the opportunity to drive a chipped 2.0 FSI, but having driven the A4 3.2, I think the 3.2 with a 6-speed manual would make a really nice driving car.

The 3.2 is very torquey and still pulls hard through the rev range- the major letdown is the automatic transmission.

My choice would be a '06 A4 3.2 6-speed with no options other than sport suspension w/ summer tires.

As for your son, get him something like a Volvo 240, then you don't have to worry about your A4.

  Taka
