ECU related. The drains in the plenum under the hood can clog,
causing water to find its way down the wiring to the ECU. The
wiring/connector and interior of the ECU box can corrode,
causing an ECU failure. But it wouldn't throw codes.
Easy check: peel back the carpeting on the passenger (starboard)
side kick panel and look for the ECU box and corrosion.
Less likely than failed sensors, but still a possibility.
I bought my '94 100 S Avant (same C4 body style) with that
problem. An afternoon splicing in a new wiring harness and
plugging in a new (used) ECU, and I was on the road.
