You're not totally correct- in a lot of European countries, the car's year
is referenced
by the date of registration, not the model year by the manufacturer. Because
of this, if you
go to mobile.de <http://mobile.de> or other european websites, the year is
the date of registration in classified
ads.

I do agree that the C4 chassis S4 was a 1992 model year car, though- the
early Euro cars
had UFO brakes.
