[s-cars] rear seat removal

I am trying to remove the backrest portion of the rear seat in a 95.5 S6.  
The manual calls for the removal of 2 screws on the bottom. Then you are  
supposed to pull up on the plastic pieces on the top with a screw driver  (where the 
headrests were installed).  It feels like the plastic pieces  will break 
before they release. 
 
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
