[s-cars] Viscous fan removal

Gary;

You'll need a pin wrench (I think it takes 5 mm pins) to hold the pulley
stationary (I made one). You need a large open end wrench (32 mm?) to loosen
the nut. The Audi wrench has a socket drive on the end to take a torque
wrench.

It's a PITA to work in there. It's easier if you swing the rad out on the
right side and remove the fan blades from the clutch. You will definitely
have to remove the lock carrier plate. I just took my viscous clutch off in
a vain attempt to remove the alternator (the long bolt is quite firmly
seized in place - a job for the next t-belt change) and I do believe I
shocked the neighbourhood with the gratuitous cursing elicited by the
viscous clutch R&R. I did discover you can replace the voltage regulator &
brushes with the alternator in place if you are imaginative enough. I figure
working on this car should stave off Alzheimer's indefinitely :)
