[s-cars] WAS gas prices, now racist subaru's

10-4 on that. I have a 69 camaro convertible that i spent an enormous amount of money restoring. A good deal was spent of refreshing the window, top and door rubbers. It's actually pretty leak proof in a good rain. Not that i drive it in the rain, but sometimes you get caught. Anyway, it's such a fun car in it's own right. Top down, both kids in the back and 540ci of angry chevy big block up front. Does not steer or brake all that well, but the concussion of the exhaust will tinker with your heartbeat :-)

Naw, you can't hear the rattles in my '72 Firebird....all you can hear is the whining of the turbos in the guy's Audi/Subaru next to you as you go by :) Sorry...couldn't resist. Musclecar vs. daily driver....two totally different deals. What's acceptable in a classic car due to old technology is certainly not in a brand new daily driver.

My point was that windows without frames around them, by their nature, do not have the same amount of support as do ones with frames therefore they are more prone to leaking. The Firebird is probably an extreme example of this, given the length of the door and the technology of 33 years ago.

Oh, and BTW, rattletrap or not the I built the Formula to do 3 things, sound good, go fast in a straight line with neck snapping torque and look good/unique cruising down the road....all of which it does quite well, better than any 33 year old Audi.

Sure you can, they are both rattle-traps! ;-) However, you can't compare
an A6 to the 2.5GT. Two totally different cars. Further from the comparo would
be my wifes Allroad against any legacy wagon. I've been in both, again, no comparison.

      Calvin-
My Subaru's windows don't have any leaking or wind noise issues even at 130+.

      You can't compare a '05 Subaru to a '72 Firebird.

I guess considering that two of our cars have manual seats, I don't really understand the
need for memory seats. The only time I really like having seat memory is when there are
a million adjustments for the seat- the D3 chassis A8 has 22 different adjustments to the
seat, mirrors and steering column- that is very nice to get set correctly and be able to repeat
without trial-and-error. That said, having 10 different adjustments just for the seat can make
the seat really fit nearly perfectly.

I drove a 2.5GT recently in the Subaru line and I must say I was reasonably
impressed vs. my A6 2.7T Sport. Tighter handling, and VERY comparable
power. So shy didn't we get one....well there are two main reasons. What's
up with the no rims around the windows thing? This is acceptable in my '72
Firebird, but some on Subaru, this is NOT the 70's. We don't need windows
that leak after a couple of years of rubber wear. The second deal killer
was the lack of memory seating...sounds silly but since my wife is 5'0" and
I'm 5'10" this feature really makes it a pain in the butt! If they correct
those two problems I am more than willing to give them a shot. They
couldn't have any more problems by 38k miles than my '01 A6 has had!
