Replace the mast. I think it's around $40 from the dealer. You don't even
have to remove the unit - take off the mast retaining nut (it's on the part
that sticks up through the fender, has a couple flats cut in it for a
wrench). Turn on the radio to raise the mast, and the remainder of the mast
will come out along with the toothed nylon drive cable. Note which way the
teeth in the cable face, stick the new cable into the power unit, and turn
off the radio to retract the cable and feed the new mast into place.

Subject: [s-cars] Radio Antenna Broken
Hi S-Heads,
I let my 16 year old take my 94 S4 to pick up dinner.
He gets back, mast broken off. Of course, he has no
idea what happened.
What are my options? Replace entire power assembly,
Replace mast portion only, replace with non-powered
antenna?
I seem to remember this discussed on list, but I can't
find any info.
Thanks,
Greg
