Hey Tim,

Just got back after an extended vacation and read your thread today.  
While I don't have anything helpful to add, I do have exactly the same 
symptoms on both my '93 S4 and '99.5 A4 1.8t as you describe.  So far 
I've been unable to resolve them in the two sessions I've spent trying 
to track the problem down, and so far it sounds like you've tested the 
same things I have.  If you solve your cruise problem, please let me 
know what the solution was.
