[s-cars] clutch rod snapped?

Wow!!! The Audi gods hit us both today!!!
The exact thing just happened to me today on the way home from work.
Drove the car home matching the revs while shifting. Timing the stop
lights helps, but I was forced to come to a complete stop about 3 times
and had to start the car in first gear.
When I got home, I took it apart, the rod on the clutch master cylinder
snapped, very common problem apparently.
My parts supplier (wholesaler) is closed on the weekend :-( and I may
have to wait until Monday unless I pay retail. BTW, stealer prices is
$300 (CAD) compared to $45 wholesale. The part number is 4A0 721 261.
If I can't get one this weekend, I may try and weld the rod back
together as a temporary fix.
Also, in your case it could also be the pedal itself, the mounting point
where the clevis pin attaches is known to snap off.
