Having btdt WRT clutch shaft breaking... IF the break is in the
middle of the threaded shaft it can be fixed (and probably well enough
to call the job finished) by using a coupling nut (search 'coupling
nut' at http://www.mcmaster.com to see what I'm talking about.) It
may be possible to get a coupling nut long enough at your local Ace
Hdwr. Secure with a locking nut at each end and some loctite for good
measure. Relative to plan b below this should be pretty quick and
easy.
Of course it may have broken at the very end or too close to the
cylinder which would not allow enough space for this repair.
Then you will need a new master cylinder. OGOLON! (o god oh lord oh no)
Upside down and backwards you will be under there. Drain as much
fluid as you can from the resevoir and have plenty of rags on hand
under there.
A circlip removal tool is a must.
(Motive) pressure bleeder is a must.
Take your time.. Teeny, tiny fingers are helpful. It's not difficult,
just a pita as nearly every is.
HTH
Good luck.
