[s-cars] Track tires

Brian Bilotti, Chris Leal and I have looked at this.  The rears should
be fine, thru a friend Brian actually got the one rim that they used to
run on the RS6 race cars.  It's a 9.5 I cannot remember the offset..I
can measure it for you though.  They mounted a 275x35x18 and it fit in
the rear, but the front is another story.  I think the biggest problem
will be hitting the inside of the rear fender well, there is a rubbing
spot.  I believe that the 275 35 18 is about the same size as a 275 40
17, so it's probably the same issue even thought the 18 is smaller I
suspect the mounted width is a bit larger since the sidewall is probably
a bit more square on the 18.  A friend has a set of 9.5's that we he has
planned on trying and I have asked to try. I have a fender roller and
have done a bunch of beating and rolling to try and get it to fit in the
front, if you wanna borrow it let me know.  I have also flared and
rolled the rears a bit.  In the front you definitely have to beat back
the rear fender well, inside of the car.  I have gotten away with 10mm
spacer on my 18" 8.5 x 32 bbc RC's in the front and the rear so there is
space, oh and this was on the track over the course of a 5 day event.  I
do have the front's rolled and the inner fender well beat back a bit as
well as the plastic liner cut back on the top.  Since I shortened my
front struts a little over an inch the front of my car can get very low
under braking or in a turn, 400lb 10" springs.  I have also tried on a
set of RC's that had 5mm cut off of them and they work out to.  So that
tells me that it's possible, cuz there is another 15mm 10+ and 5-.

I am would like to mount 275/40X17 cheaters on my 95.5 S6. I was
thinking  of
using a
9 1/2X17 wheel with a 25mm offset. This would give me an extra 5mm on
the 
inside of the wheel well. I am currently running 255/40X17 Yokohama
Advan 032R 
hard compounds on
8 1/2X17 SSR Comps with a 35mm offset. Is anyone running this size on
the 
track? If so, how did you modify the fenders to cover the tires?
