[s-cars] Spark Plugs

IS there really any difference?

In my experience, unless one of my spark plugs (on any car I have owned) was
seriously burned out, I can't feel any difference when replacing the plugs.
To me it's like changing the oil...

As for plugs in the S6. A mechanic installed $25 bosch platinum's for me
a couple years ago. I just pulled them out and put in $3 autolites or
maybe champions... (I forget exactly... I think they were on sale). The
car runs exactly the same, right down to the occasional knock and ping. And
when in the right RPM range...the cars runs great

The million $ question that I have is.... why would a plug for a 5 cylinder
2.2 Audi engine have to cost more than the one for my Mom's 6 cylinder
Mazda? I mean...sure, I got a better interior and my tires are fatter...
but does my engine run on some different principle that requires $25 spark
plugs?

BTW, I have the same theory on motor oil. Last time I was at my nice
European auto shop, he charged me $6.50/quart and I think $20 for a filter.
Cost for an oil change: $80.00. Safeway brand Oil would have been just
fine.
