[s-cars] Lower door trim, redux...

Eric:

This was so easy, even I could do it. :-)

1. Open door.
2. Grab trim firmly and pull it toward the aft part of the door. The
moulding should slide off fairly easily. Note that the moulding was
installed onto a row of white plastic clips. If you're feeling
it...clean the dirt out of the clips and off the bottom of the door.
3. A small rubber cap will probably fall off the front of the trim
piece. Save this, you'll need to install it on the new moulding. Then
again, maybe it's already gone...
4. Remove the new parts from the long tube that they ship it to you in.
5. Spend some time straightening the new moulding out from where large
gorillas employed by ECS bent it by cramming it into the shipping tube.
Don't ask me how I know this.
6. Some have chosen to seal the new moulding with epoxy or other
materials so that you don't end up having to replace it again. I was
lazy and decided that it took 12 years for the existing moulding to look
bad enough to be worthy of replacement...and that I couldn't imagine the
car making it until 2017.
7. Carefully slide the new moulding onto the aforementioned white
plastic clips. It will take a bit of effort, but not too much. Stop when
you're about 1"" from the forward part of the door.
8. Put the old rubber cap on the fore part of the new moulding. This
took me a bit of work, and was eventually accomplished by doing it from
the outer side of the door. There is supposed to be a metal retaining
spring clip as part of the cap...one of mine was completely rusted off
and the other was in bad shape.
9. Push the cap in with a big, fat screwdriver.
10. Repeat on the other doors.

Enjoy the 3HP gained from the new mouldings. :-)
