Kevin,

Check this link for switch cleaning. It goes into how to disassmeble.
http://forums.fourtitude.com/zerothread?id=1704293 Its for the older cars
but I can't imagine its much different. Also if you're interested, here is
a write-up on installing LEDs in place of the standard lights. Thanks to
Mike (AudiSport4000 on Audiworld) for these instructions.
.

Doing the LED's in the window switches isnt that hard. To be honest, I had
never used my fathers soldering gun until yesterday when I did this.
First you need LED's and new resistors, they can be gotten at Radio Shack.
You have some choices here, you can use the 5mm LED's or 3mm LED's. I chose
5mm because they had 4 of them and I thought I could stuff them into the
switch, and I did.
Here are some part numbers at Radio Shack, you can find everything in the
pull out bins.
5mm LED Wide Angle Red- 276-309
Resistor to use with the 5mm- 271-1117
3mm LED Wide Angle Red- 276-026
Resistor to use with the 3mm- 271-1116

I paid around 8 bucks for 4 LED's and 2 packs of resistors (5 in a pack).

Now to the good stuff! First of all, whatever switches you use, make sure
they work first.
If you havnt taken the switches apart before, your gonna need a few very
small flat head screwdrivers. There are slits in them and the tabs need to
be pushed in, and the outer "casing" pulled off in order to get to the guts.
Some switches dont have holes where you can see the tabs, which is odd, but
most of my spares do. Once you release the small tabs, carefully pull the
back part of the switch out. Once out, you can take off the top of the
switch (the part you physically push down). Remove the 2 square contacts.
You notice the bulb in there now and how everything is set up. The new
resistor and bulb are a bit larger than these, so take that into
consideration. One end of the LED wire is longer than the other wire, use
the LONG wire to hook up to the resistor, and the shorter one to ground.
Solder them exactly how you see them. Note this, the bulb placement is
important, once everything is soldered together you may have to move the
bulb with your hand to make sure it is very clear throughout the entire part
of the switch.
Pretty cool, and they are bright at night :)
