[s-cars] Couple of brake questions, was: J-hose...

Hi Eric,

Re question 2. I have slotted in the front but didn't go with slots on rears
due to dis-prortionate amount of the braking is done by the fronts and cost.
I am planning a big brake upgrade for fronts in a couple of months. I also
have PBR metalmaster pads up front. And guess what, PBR = Axxis (an Aussie
company).

Also have SS brake lines for 3 years now an a recent inspection showed no
problems.

If you're interested in a set of fronts and can wait a few weeks, I'll have
a spare set soon!

Errr, what *is* the hose for?

I guess what I mean is, if I describe what it's attached to, does that give
the appropriate amount of info?

Brake questions (as per subject):

1.) Is the pressure accumulator replacement a DIY? Anyone got a BTDT? 2500
psi nitorgen sounds like, well, a bomb ready to go off... :)

2.) I just read Zimmerman rotors and PBR ceramic pads are a good
replacement. How about Zimmerman slotted with Axxis Metalmaster?

3.) I like the feel of SS braided brake lines. Read on Audifans that the
replacement schedule on those is once every two years, due to wear.
WTF!?!?!? No frickin' way! I had SS lines on my Scirocco for 10+ years, and
never had a failure there - the hard line under the body failed at 20 years
after factory install. Somebody tell me that this is sheer paranoia. Or tell
me where to get high-quality lines that I can replace on a five-year
schedule.

Thanks, guys. BTW - thanks to all for the trim install BTDTs - I very much
appreicate the help. I did ask ECS to be careful putting them in the
shipping carton - we'll see how they arrive.

Grovelling at the font of knowledge,

Eric
