[s-cars] Eibach/Bilstein and Camber - What's *the* Solution?

You either have to cut a bit of the lip away or what we did on a
friend's car. We installed the plates and then tightened the plate nuts
which bent the area a bit. We finished bending the area away with a
screwdriver. This provides enough room to tighten and loosen the outer
mount nut. It's pretty much unavoidable that you will have to cut or
bend the area. It you paint it right away you should be fine.

Thanks to both of you. I seem to recall that from other threads on the
subject Gabriel that at least the early generation 2B plates were noisy.
I
certainly like the ECS plates from a cost perspective but 2 things there
make me hesitate. 1) Looks like nothing more than a professionally
manufactured/machined Igor mod. 2) The comment that "slight
modification"
to the inner fender lip is necessary. Sounds to me like the ECS
solution
needs extra space for the upper strut mount to move outboard.
Can anybody comment on the "slight modification". I'm not a fan of
compromising the integrity of paint and or galvanization.
Thanks again,
Mark

IIRC the mounts are also solid, so be warned if you go this route.

2Bennet plates can also give you some postive caster if you don't
end up using all of the travel on camber. Positive caster gives you
better on center feel and centering and less positive camber gain
while turning, IOW, an advantage in moderation.

ECS camber plates. Some people can get away with slotting some can't.
My alignment came to within factory specs with slotted mounts.

All Suspension Heads:
Patient is a 95.5 S6 with Eibach/Bilstein set up for over 2 years now.
In
about 12K miles of driving the inside edges of the tires was showing
metal.
I am currently at a -1.3 camber on the fronts. I have further slotted
the
upper strut mounts and maybe have 2 or 3mm more before the mount hits
the
metal lip. Russ Sutherlin was most gracious and provided me with is
determination that the Igor offset of 4mm would change my camber by
0.267
degrees. That however would negate the additional camber I would gain
by
further slotting the upper strut mount. My last set of tires cost @
$600
with mounting and balancing.
Short of going back to stock suspension (ain't happening), what's a guy
to
do to gain around 0.8 degrees of camber? After market camber plates are
most certainly a consideration if'n the will get me where I want to be.
Regards,
Mark
