I believe you will find that your problem is ignition related.  It is either
time for new plugs, new plug connectors, or a coil is failing.

My 93 S4 has developed an overboost cutout type bucking at only
moderate boost(1.4 bar or so). I am assuming the WGFV is sticking,
correct assumption? How do I test it and, no, I don't have a mate
down the road with a spare S4 to swap with.
