I understand that part.

That's what I mean about thermal mass.  For street applications,
thermal mass is *good*.  For repeated hard braking, not so much.

Now, what's NOT good is unsprung mass and its effect on handling. 
Again, this is more of a track issue than a street issue.  If I were
running at the track, I would pop for the extra$ ring+hat, no
question.  But my car isn't going on the track, so the Hugh Jass
rotors and their weight is not of consequence to me.

Regular street use would probably not overheat them.  Even spirited street use.

Maybe after I wear out these rotors, I'll go to the ring+hat system. 
Depends on what kind of performance/life I get out of this set-up.
