All of the news I've heard was that GM was going to handle distribution of
Alfa
in the States, they were supposed to do this in 2006, but pushed it to 2008
or '09.
As for being works of art, if you read the British magazines, Alfas have
terrible resale,
are unreliable, tend to rust and fall apart. Sounds much worse than an Audi-
at least
Audis are pretty corrosion-resistant.
The Brera and 159 are nice, but _heavy_. The AWD 159 weighs more than the
A4, which
is another lead brick of a car.
Alfa needs to get back to basics and make something along the lines of a
2000GTV from
the late '60s. The most interesting new car I've seen this year was the BMW
Z4M Coupe.
As for seeing one in PA, I'm not all that surprised, it could either be a
diplomat or it could
be a manufacturer's car, but they usually have proper manufacturer plates,
so Italian tags
might mean it's a diplomat. There used to be a French guy running an R5
Turbo II around here
for a while and I've seen a Lancia Delta Integrale in Philly as well. Some
of the diplomats have
a taste for interesting cars.
Since I should have some Audi content, the RS4 looks to be a killer car at
about $65-67k if
that is in someone's budget. Dynamically the equal of the E46 M3, I wonder
if the E90 M3 will
raise the bar much higher....
