Thats the service indicator symbol. There are 3 different words used. If the 
car hasn't been "factory" serviced, then most likely it off and needs 
resetting. There is a procedure to reset it, but it should be reset set to 
come on at your correct service intervals, either mileage or time. How this 
is done depends on your model. Yes VAG-Com can work, but you will need to 
know and input the correct values for each service reminder in the Instument 
Cluster.
