[s-cars] SRI ; was n00b question

Those are #2 service reminders ( 30K miles or 24months). Your friend
has
the advantage since the owners manual has a simple reset proceedure for
the A4. The URS cars have a variable interval set with the VAG 1551
at the
dealer ( you can buy your own from Zelenda or Baum) or the VAG-COM
software and cable for a laptop, or ShadeTree software and connectors
for
some handheld computers. Use one of these electronic tools to reset
your
SRI. You may find In 1 and Oil indicators beneath the In 2
indicator. Pushing
in the trip odometer reset will stop the flash and display the
odometer reading
immediately until you shut down and restart.

Perhaps there is a lister or NAAC member close by with a VAG-COM if
you ask.
The dealer diagnostic charges are getting ridiculous, so save that
for a real need.
