I don't think there is an insurance repair option. If they take that
route, then they
will be stuck with the cost escalation and unknown damage that is
always present
in any repair, with very little margin to work with, meaning very
little incentive to
take that risk. This is almost a certainty because the adjusters see
so few of these
cars that the estimating tools are usually A6/100 based and the pile
of unique small
parts hit them like an avalanche in the supplementary damage report.
You have to
factor in the quality of the repair job you will get as well.
Tom

While I agree with the overall assessment that the car isn't likely to be
repaired via insurance, I wouldn't say insurance co's are blind to the cars
value WRT parts costs. Any adjuster nowadays is using advanced software to
write an estimate that doublechecks the work as they go. The VIN alone tells
the computer it's a 5cyl turbo car, hence not an A6/100. You'll often see
lines that look like:

repl fr bumper 100 w/S4 950$ +25%

If it was a '94 100, you could tell it was a total from 60feet away. I've
had them written off for bumper/hood and paint. Add in rental costs/sublet
towing/storage too.

What most of these numbers eventually hinge on is the established value of
the car before the hit. That's an area where you've got a little wiggle
room, depending on the policy and how well you've kept records. After all,
it's not just transportation, it's *the best* S4 west of the Poconos!
