So, here's where I'm at:

993TT calipers sound like they're good enough for my street-only
application (spirited driving, but limited to non-raceway situations).

Europrice does sell RS2 brackets (so says the website). I'll try and
e-mail them for more specific info. The cost is $170/pair.

Maybe the 993 rotor rings and BIRA hats are the way to go. We'll see
what the pricing is on that, as opposed to Euro A8L (D2) rotors.

Shaving material off brake components doesn't sound wise to me. A
couple of mm surely won't make that much of a difference.

I guess all that's left on that set-up is the SS lines. Custom fab?
Or can be ordered as stock pieces from somewhere?

(BTW, StopTech really went all out on helping out with the rear lines.
I'll tell you the story as soon as I'm done with the job.)

I like the idea of a mix and match set-up where I get away for a
relatively decent price, I get better braking, I can do the job
myself, and not have to make too many mods to the car or parts (I
prefer "no mods"). I recognize that the shields behind the rotors
will need to be trimmed somewhat, but I understand that this is a very
simple thing to do.

Thanks again for all the info - separating fact from sales hype is
easier when there are folks who BTDT.

Oh - one last thing - I don't have any problem with squeal. Every car
that I've upgrade brakes on have had some noise. It doesn't bother me
in the least.
