[s-cars] Front brake research continues...

About 3 years ago I went with RS2 brackets and 993TT calipers on our
'95 Avant. I figured Audi and Porsche paid enough research $$ to
figure out all of the gotchas. Didn't have the same degree of
confidence in the aftermarket suppliers at the time. The other
advantage I liked was that the Porsche/Audi solution used entirely
off-the-shelf and easily replaceable parts.

For rotors, I looked at the A8 solution. The reports at the time
indicated that the fit was really close, e.g. that the caliper
location and disc location were near perfect - but not quite. From
memory there's about a 2mm offset. Some speculated (maybe even
reported) that the pads could slip down at/near the extreme ends of
their wear.

I ended up going with the BIRA hats and 993TT rotors. I've put many
miles and numerous track days on them and they've never let me down. I
figure when I sell I will give the new owner the option to purchase
the hats (BIRA agreement) or will install the A8 discs.
