Tim,

I just had my stock Audi/Bose Gamma completely die in my S6.
Just flat out dead. Nothing but the lights came on when you
turned the switch. (didn't really know how much you miss tunes
until it's broken). It was a progressive death too, worked
great, then started to crackle, pop and wouldn't hold the
volume. Oh great. Then one day, nothing.

I pulled it out with the radio removal "<" tools and left
everything plugged right in. Took a can of "Wurth Contac Ol"
and a whole lotta additude and filled the damn thing up so it
was swimming in in the stuff. Sprayed it right on the volume
potentiometer guts. Reeked like a machine shop. Must have
emptied the whole bottle out. Anyway, turned it on turned it
off, on, off, on, off, sprayed more, sprayed MORE, on, off, on,
off... you get the idea. Works great now but don't know how
long this will last.

Mr. T-

There's the damned planned mutual (conspiracy) obsolescence again.
Appears I'm a mere step behind you in that department, I've been
awaiting the inevitable for months now. Joins my 10 disc changer in
Audio Heaven. And darn if yer not right, boy do you miss those things
when they're gone. Great to hear of your machineshopbath fix tho, I'm
sure I'll be on that come spring.

Warning! List Contagiousness... I think I'll start vexing yous people:

<<<BAM! May you have a torn steering rack boot!>>>

Heh heh. OK hope not. But I still say <duck>!

These beoches start to mutually fray fersure. Just a matter of how long
one's tolerance can last... to only then rush out and replace it with
another, er, beoch, that has already started to fray. Argh! Damn
Audigods.

So I dare ask... does considering an //S8 mean automotive suicide?
Even with the *obligatory* extended warranty. Have a read on the D2
msg. boards, same fraying issues there oh yes. Trannies? Gasp. And I
still want one? What's wrong with me...

Don't answer that...

Tho humph... an auto tranny warranty claim parlayed into a 6spd
retroinstall... no! Look away from the light...
