I agree... I've had many Alpines, and still have 2 cars fitted with  Alpines. 
 They have been trouble free, and good performers.  Out of  the probably 6 
I've had, only one ever failed, requiring a CD drive  replacement... and that 
unit was at least 6 years old, and in a daily  driver.
 
Trouble is, the Alpines seem to be succumbing to the rash of "bling"  looking 
headunits... looking pretty ugly in a classy car.  Look around...  there just 
aren't too many good choices out there for a nice subtle/excellent  
performing headunit.  IMO, that's where Nak has everyone beat.   'Course the bottom 
line is personal preference, in the looks department... one  man's gaudy bling is 
another man's nightmare.
