[s-cars] Suspension questions

Jason/Matt

For my Avant, I sourced Audi Euro HD springs from Europe with Koni Shocks.

This only lowers the Avant about one inch; however, with a Stromung exhaust
and winter roads here in VT, I did not want to go much lower.

Car rides much better than stock and also improves the "allroad" look,
however, they are not as low as the eibachs.

Alex at Europrice can get you the springs.

Matt,
I've been researching this pretty extensively. I'm about to take the plunge

for the eibachs on my avant. I'm pretty sure the correct spring kit is
1529.140E and they're not extremely easy to find. I think Bill Maloney was
the one who gave some part numbers from his springs that matched this set.
You can do an Audiworld search for "avant eibach" in the urS forums to find
more on this subject.
I've found a few sets through a friend that are running $315/set. Does
anybody know where to get the "E" kit any cheaper? If not, I can put you in

touch with him since he says he has access to them.

Subject: [s-cars] Suspension questions

Hi Guys,

Background: I have a 95.5 Avant with 123k miles and live in Madison,
WI. The suspension on the car is the original setup from the factory
with the stock 16s for wheels. I don't track the car and the roads
around here aren't in the greatest shape. I am thinking of
refreshing/upgrading the suspension but not sure what to do based on
the myriad of combinations out there. My previous experience with
suspension upgrades was with an '88 325iS. On that car I had Bilstein
Sports and Eibachs installed along with new shock mounts and strut
bearings. I liked that setup except when the road surface was really
bad. The other concern was excessive tire wear due to the camber being
off a little.

>From reading a lot of past posts on this list and the Audiworld forums
I am confused over what I need. Some questions I have are:

Do I need special springs for the Avant?

Are Eibachs even available for the Avant?

Is there anything else that I need to do or makes sense to do at this
time? Like camber paltes, control arms, bushings, tierods, etc?

Thanks!
Matt Pelkey
