Bob,
Starts on all 5 cylinders for about a second and a half, then drops #4 cyl. I
can unplug #4 fuel injector and get no change in my bad idle. I tried
swapping fuel injectors, no help. New coil pack at #4, no help. New POS, no help. I
thought it was a possible lifter, changed all 20 lifters and checked for broken
valve spring, no help and no broken valve springs. New plugs, new boots, no
help. New injector inserts, new O-rings, new fuel filter, no help. Tried
swapping ECU's, no help. Compression test good. Leak down test good. The only thing
I haven't checked is the wiring to the POS from the ECU. That's tomorrow.
After the engine runs for a while, it will smooth out and idle sort of nice. If I
blip the throttle, it will loose #4 again and then recover. At highway speeds,
you can feel the engine running a little rough and full power isn't there.
Sometimes it runs well at highway speeds and pulls like a freight train, but
after I let off, I can feel that it lost the cylinder again.
Jim
