the low boost problem came back.  however, i also got
a check engine light, which eventually went out.  i
dumped the codes and got an intermittent O2 sensor code.

crimping didn't work so well for me.  i need a better 
quality crimper and connectors.  however, i already have
a soldering iron, and i know how to use it, so i'm just
going to solder it.

in any event, this pretty much confirms that my low
boost problem was due to a faulty oxygen sensor.
the old oxygen sensor was completely white, and looked
clogged.
