[s-cars] Low boost revisited

Hi again Y'all,

Let's see... How do I put the best spin on this? Ah, yeah, that's it.

My RS2ed urS6 has been showing intermittent low boost. (10-14 psig
or so vs the 25-28 or so it should have been having) Suspecting that
my original WGFV may have been sticking I pulled the device and
sprayed its innards with Kroil and reinstalled it. I <ahem>
intentionally left the wiring harness plug disconnected. (Yeah -
right - that's it. Duh. :-( ) This left the car in a "permanent
vegetative state" and lousy boost for my entire Saturday business
trip. Plugging the WGFV connector back in this morning gives what
appeared to be normal boost (28 psig max) again for about 80% of a
test drive. Then, suddenly, without my input boost dropped back to
the 12-14 psig level and would not go above that level again during
the drive. It looks like maybe the Kroil treatment accomplished
nothing. Oh well. It was worth a try.

One additional observation. At one point in my test run my boost
gauge briefly showed over 30 psig and I hit the overboost
limit. Nasty feeling. :-( WGFV stuck open rather than closed this
time? A new WGFV is on its way here.

Teddy is reporting that replacing his OXS made a difference with his
apparently identical problem. Since my OXS is, AFAIK, the original
one and has 87K miles on it I'll replace it just on the off chance it
might actually help and, besides, its probably about due for
replacement anyway.
