[s-cars] Rice Crispies in my radio....

Tapping the lister knowledgebase...

Yesterday when I shut off the ignition my 95.5 Avant, there was a deafening
"pop-crackle" through the speakers after about a one to two second delay.
After some minor investigation, I have determined that it appears not
ignition switch related. With ignition either on or off, I get a single
"pop" when I turn the radio on, and a more significant "popping-crackling"
when I turn the radio off. Now these "pops" sound like they are at full
volume, enough to make you jump even if you are expecting it, so I am
concerned about damaging the speakers. Radio works fine when on, and I have
a Concert 1 with a Phatbox upgrade that was completed months ago. Anyone
experienced anything like this? I'm leaning towards a head unit issue, but
have not had a chance to swap in something else to see if the problem goes
away. One other thing, with the radio off while driving the car, I now hear
some minor motor noise interference (whine) through the speakers that was
not there before. Any leads are appreciated. TIA.
