[s-cars] in tank fuel guage/float

hey listers, anyone know whether or not the float arm/lever sends signal to
the IC based on current/resistance/etc. to calculate fuel level..

or is it purely mechanical?

when i replaced my fuel pump i soldered the severed wire back together.  it
used to be completely dead, now i get a half tank indicated when filling
up.

i have checked to be sure im clearing the fuel lines in the tank for full
range of motion on the lever.

any feedback would be great, thanks, //brian
