[s-cars] Tat..Tat Noise in Engine

Rislone is an oil additive. With 285K I wouldn't use it. It will clean more
than you want, next thing you know it will be smoking like mad, because you
got rid of all the deposit that made up for increasing clearances. I agree
with Grant, the highest octane you can find.

Non Audi post... In the late 60's I bought a '54 Caddy. It wasn't in the
best of shape motor wise so in my young infinite wisdom I thought a dose of
detergent oil would help. Non-detergent oil was still popular. So I changed
the oil to all detergent and away I went. Boy did I clean it out, especially
the right bank. I still remember the look on the cops face when he pulled me
over, he said my car was smoking and he was going to the back of the car to
check it out. As he stood about 10' behind be he said rev 'er up. I lost him
in the smoke for sometime. I don't think he will do that again. Yes, I got a
ticket. I then took the car to the junk yard.

Wow - so many unrelated issues to address!

1.) My first guess would be valve lifters, and if so, its no big deal.
2.) 89 octane is too low for a -any- turbo car
3.) rislone probably wont help anything unless your engine has been
gunked up. I think you need to explain what you are thinking, unless
everyone but me knows already.....
