The STI already has a water squirter for the intercooler. (my
brother's STI does)

This, however, would be primarily limited to the "stop" part of stop-n-go driving equation, and also at old-man-with-a-walker type velocities. When actually in the "go" part of stop-n-go, i.e., speeds above - say - 30mph, said intake temperatures would likely rise above the other turbo cars due to the mondo restriction that has been "engineered" into the air flow path for the intercooler. This, unfortunately, is when cooling of the charge air is most desireable. When the engine is under load. When you are actually going somewhere. Maybe even in a hurry. A more useful "intercooler cooling tool" - say that five times fast - would be to tap off the windshield washer nozzles with a switched solenoid valve to give the intercooler a quick bath. This would increase conductivity, in addition to the latent thermal gains to evaporation, and could be done during the go part and before the stop part. This could also be done with an old windex bottle in one of the cup holders if one was so Mcgyvered.
