Sorry Jack-
I completely disagree with your assessment of the Subaru.
The STi is by far much more fun to drive than any Audi I've driven as of
yet. I have
not driven a 20v UrQ, an RS2, either RS4 or an A8 W12, but have driven
nearly all
of the other Audis ranging from a '82 4000S to a '05 A8 and everything in
between.
Had the Evo MR been available when I got the STi, I might have gotten the
MR, although
Mitsubishi is not the most reliable car nor does the company have good
financial stead.
There is nothing in the Audi lineup short of the RS4 that can keep up
performance-wise
with these two and that one costs about the same as the Evo and STi
combined.
I'd probably get an A4 3.2 6-speed S-line as a daily driver if I needed such
a car, but
right now, the Miata does a much more entertaining job of keeping the daily
commute
entertaining. You can't carve the twisties in your S4 like you can in a
Miata.
