Bob,

Same symptoms I had when I first blew my turbo to crossover tube hose
partially off the crossover tube.  Car would run OK if I feathered the
throttle, but any kind of load (such as a hill) was a challenge that
had to be met by down shifting and feathering.

Check your hoses.  If the front end was apart/worked on, perhaps they
knocked a turbo hose loose.
