Douglas: If you swap the POS input and output connectors as a pair
between the actual POS units, you can test the new POS on the other
group of cylinders without actually moving the POS. (The wires don't
care
which POS they are connected to - just as long as the input and
outputs
are the correct pair.)

Dave,
I swapped in a new POS for the one I switched channels on (passenger
side) that has the buggered pin. No joy. I am waiting until I get
some heat sink paste to switch the new POS to the other position
(driver's side). I will also put in a new O2 sensor and see if that
does anything (one thing at a time however).
Speaking of buggered pins, does anyone out there have a spare 4-pin
connector for a POS? If someone is parting an S-car and can snip off
the connector that goes from the bottom of the passenger side POS to
the main wiring harness, I would like to get my hands on it.
Bueller?
